Fighting the Spiritual Battle: Are You Awake?

Are you aware that we are living in a spiritual battle? There is spiritual warfare happening all around us—whether we acknowledge it or not.

The Bible makes this clear:

“For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”
— Ephesians 6:12 (NLT)

We don’t wrestle against people, governments, or systems. The real fight is against unseen spiritual forces that oppose the kingdom of God.

Do You Believe in the Unseen?

When we look around at our world today, the destruction and evil are easy to spot. But the deeper question is: do you believe these battles are the result of spiritual realities?

We have an enemy, and Scripture is clear about his plan:

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
— John 10:10 (NLT)

Satan seeks to rob us of joy, peace, and faith. But Jesus came so that we might have abundant, overflowing life. The contrast couldn’t be clearer.

Standing in Authority

Imagine someone breaking into your home—you would stand and defend your family. In the same way, we are called to stand in authority against the enemy’s attacks in the spiritual realm.

That authority comes only through Jesus Christ. The question is: do you know Him? Have you made Him Lord of your life?

It’s not complicated. Salvation is as simple as saying:

“Lord, I surrender my life to You. I believe that You died for my sins, and that You rose again.”

When you make that decision, He sends the Holy Spirit to live in you. And it is through the Spirit that we fight the spiritual battle each and every day.

Power, Love, and a Sound Mind

One of my favorite verses reminds me where my strength comes from:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
— 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

This truth anchors me daily. I face choices constantly—will I give in to fear, or will I walk in the power, love, and sound mind God provides? You and I both have to make that decision.

The Unavoidable Choice

Here’s the reality: we don’t get to opt out of this battle. Evil and good are colliding in our world. Satan’s schemes stand against God’s purposes.

“…at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
— Philippians 2:10–11 (NLT)

The question is: will you bow now in surrender, or later in regret?

Victory in Jesus

The good news is this—victory is already secured. When we surrender to Jesus, Satan cannot win. He cannot overcome the believer who is rooted in Christ.

But in the present, here and now, the battle is real. If we don’t step in and take authority, fear will overtake us. That’s why we must stand on God’s Word, wield it like a sword, and rest in the power of the Spirit.

Final Challenge

• Will you let the enemy steal, kill, and destroy?
• Or will you rise up in power, love, and a sound mind, fighting with the authority that Jesus gives you?

The choice is yours. But remember: the battle is not optional.
