Marriage Appreciation Exercise: 25 Days to Build Gratitude and Connection
Oct 23, 2025
Marriage Appreciation Exercise
Purpose: To strengthen connection, gratitude, and emotional closeness in your marriage.
Instructions
Take a few quiet moments on your own to reflect on your spouse. Think about both the big and small things that make you thankful for them — their character, habits, quirks, sacrifices, or the ways they love and serve you.
Step 1:
Create a list of 25 things that you appreciate and love about your spouse.
(Examples: “I love how you make me laugh,” “I appreciate how hard you work for our family,” “I love that you pray with me.”)
Step 2:
Each day, share one item from your list with your spouse. You can do this verbally, by note, text, or a simple moment of eye contact and affirmation.
The goal isn’t just to say words — it’s to feel them and mean them.
Step 3:
Keep it going. After 20–25 days, make a new list. This practice builds a rhythm of gratitude and helps re-train your focus on what’s right instead of what’s wrong.
Tip
Gratitude softens the heart. When appreciation grows, criticism shrinks. This small daily rhythm can have a big impact on the tone of your marriage.
Scripture to Reflect On

Start today and make appreciation a daily rhythm in your marriage.
Challenge:
