The One Relationship Series

Hey, couples, Bryan and Stephanie Vignery are coming to you with a new series titled One Relationship. We are so excited to present this information to you. It's been helpful for us to approach our marriage in this way, understanding what one relationship means. And for those of you who aren't quite familiar with what we're talking about, there's only one relationship that directly reflects our relationship with Jesus, and that is marriage.

Jesus lays out in his gospel many times and meticulously how we're to do marriage. And it's a direct reflection of how we're to pursue him, how we are to pursue a relationship with him, and all the principles and character that it takes to be a follower of Jesus. So we're going to have multiple weeks here where you're going to jump in with your spouse, and you're going to learn so much.

We wanted to record this because we want you to be able to go back through this information over and over and really allow it to sink deeply into your marriage so you can have change within the marriage. I don't know about you, but we have been married since 2003, and we've had different seasons of life where we've needed some significant change.

And then there are other seasons where we're like, man, this is really flowing well. And that's just the thing that happens when you bring two people from two different pasts, two different families, two different cultures. You bring them together, and you try to make marriage work.

>Well, I'm just so excited to be here with you and be a part of this. This is such a blessing. Bryan and I have always talked since day one, since we've been married, about how much we wanted to bless other marriages. And so it's just been a blessing through the years.

Just like Bryan was saying, we've had some hardships. We've had good times and not-so-good times. But overall, God is our foundation. I tell you what, that is the key to a lasting relationship. I'm a mom, so one of the things that's very, very important to us is to build that foundation of God in our relationship and not only in our family and start from the get-go.

We've been brought up with two different pasts, for sure. You know, I'm from a broken home, and he's from a home that has stayed together. So, working together and learning to communicate in the different aspects of conflict and resolution and everything that we've worked through together has definitely been challenging. And yet it's definitely been a lot of growing and a lot of things that we've learned about each other.

And so it's just been, I guess, fulfilling at times when we've seen our areas of growth because I really believe that God, you know, puts us through different things in our life to learn. And, so, he's definitely put us through certain things so we can learn to be where we are today. And that's where we move forward today.

No matter what's happened in our past, we want to be able to bless other marriages and put love and forth what we've learned. And I'm excited to share with you different stories that we've had, you know, through our life and everything and different parts of our life and how God has really used us.

One thing I want you to really pay attention to as you go through these weeks is that there's a process in marriage that I talk about with many people. And that process is a refinement process. Bringing two people together, a man and a woman from two different pasts really can cause some friction. But that friction is really kind of a refining of who we are in the context of marriage.

So you might run into some spots in this course where you're like, oh man, this is something I haven't talked about, or this is something that is not very comfortable for me, or these feelings come up. I really don't know what to do with them. That's okay. That's okay. You're going to have plenty of time to be able to take a pause and really go through this with your spouse.

But I want to encourage you to have your eyes and ears open. Listen for some of those things that really reflect your marriage and your relationship. Jesus wants us to refine in marriage so we can be closer to him and more like him and that man. We can lead our wives in a way that's more healthy because we're more like him.

Ladies, you get to lead in your way and be more effective because you follow Jesus, too. So we hope that you enjoy this course. We want you to sit back wherever you're at—on your tablet, on your computer, on the TV—and absorb this content. We pray that it will impact your marriage and build your marriage even stronger.
